Baroda Calibration Services – Business Website Design Case study

Posted by

Baroda Calibration Services (BCS) was established in 2013 in Baroda, Gujarat. Accredited by NABL, an ISO Certified company and recognized by the Bureau of Indian Standards, BCS is a leading calibration and testing laboratory in India. BCS started with calibrating current transformers and potential transformers and has evolved to a wide range of electro-technical equipment, high voltage transformers, oil BDV test kits, and digital power analyzers. BCS offers both in-house and on-site services, and is staffed with experienced personnel, offering calibration services for various equipment through associated laboratories as well.

Requirement for the Website & Challenges

With more than 1,000 companies providing calibration services in Baroda, it’s hard to stand out without proper marketing. In an industry that does not market itself prominently on banners, billboards, and magazines (except industry-related magazines, which are less than a handful), marketing a service like calibration services is difficult with offline media. Offline media is also very expensive, with unpredictable ROI and audience reach. A website, on the other hand, is a more sensible approach to reaching a wider audience. The cost of creating and marketing the website is also more predictable.

Baroda Calibration Services decided to create a website to market its services not just in Baroda but, with the help of associates, all over India. A website would also help in acquiring associates who are interested in providing services and gaining knowledge in the industry.

The Design – Minimalist, Content Focused

BCS required a website that was simple and delivered the message clearly. The home page featured just a hero image with a parallax animation and paragraphs of content about the company. The only other content included the members of the management team with their designation, name, and contact details. The website had a clean header and a footer with links to relevant pages. The requirements were clear, and the design was tailored to deliver the message effectively. The fonts were large, easy to read, and featured in a clear contrasting color.

The fonts used were Poppins throughout the website. The colors were aligned with the logo’s color to maintain branding consistency.

Apart from the main design, the website was made responsive and mobile-friendly to be accessible on all devices. The website adjusted to screen size easily and loaded fast for slower networks.

The Technology & Coding

BCS uses HTML5 and CSS3 with the Bootstrap framework. The website is light on coding and did not require a backend or admin section. There was no content management system requirement either, which saved on costs. With minimal changes to the website content itself, there was no reason to add a content management system.

Key Features:

  • Static Floating Menu Bar with Dropdown Menu: The website was designed to be easily navigable, and the floating menu bar ensures users can move to other pages easily. You don’t need to scroll to the top of the page to access the menu; it’s always at the top of the screen. The website also features dropdown menus for certain sections, which help group content effectively.
  • Social Media Integration: The website is integrated with Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube to share content easily and make it available on these platforms from the provided links. With social media marketing becoming more important, it was reasonable to add social media share options to the website.

How the Website Affected the Business

With the new website designed in 2020, there have been significant changes in the way people approach the company. With prominent branding and easy-to-read content, there has been a reasonable number of inquiries and interests, especially from people who would like to associate with BCS. Though there has not been any significant change in traffic, the website is precisely what the client required.
