Epoxy House Transformers Website Design Case Study

Posted by

Epoxy House was established in 1972 in Vadodara, Gujarat. The company develops, designs, and manufactures a range of epoxy-moulded components, including transformers, epoxy bushings, insulators, distribution transformers, and solar PV modules. With over 48 years of experience, Epoxy House products are used by major engineering and power companies in the UK, USA, Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, China, Dubai, and more.

The Website Requirement

Epoxy House was looking for an industrial website design service that understood the power industry and the audience Epoxy House caters to. After going through several web design and development companies, their work, and their portfolios, Megh Technologies stood out as one of the preferred web design companies based on the user interface design of various projects completed by Megh Technologies.

Epoxy House set out to create a list of requirements for their website that had to be met before the meeting.

  1. Responsive Website Design: Epoxy House required a website that was responsive, mobile-friendly, fast-loading, and accessible on all devices of all sizes. This was important because most of Epoxy House’s audience was onsite and would check websites when they were on slow network connections. A fast website that would load on 2G or 3G networks was important.
  2. User Interface Designed for Power and Transformer Companies: Epoxy House understood their industry and audience well. They needed a website with a user interface specifically tailored for their audience, which was industry-specific. The format of the website should be clear and concise, with easy-to-access product information, clean images, and product descriptions.
  3. Online Product Catalog: The website was not to have an eCommerce store. Being a B2B industry, products were purchased in bulk after personal visits and several consultations. This also required some customization from time to time. However, it was important that the website had a detailed product catalog that showcased the products according to power company/industry standards.
  4. Detailed Product Page Design: The website required a product page dedicated to each product with details and descriptions of each product the company manufactured, arranged categorically. The section should be accessible from the navigation menu and also interlinked with relevant and related products. The UI of the product page should be custom designed.
  5. Custom Corporate Business Website Design: The website should be custom-designed as a business website that would reflect the company and products while showcasing the company as a brand leader. No use of templated graphics or design was to be used.

The Design Idea and Implementation

Megh Technologies conducted audience research to understand the industry and what people were looking for in terms of design and content before proceeding with the design. We understood that the power industry was a unique niche with a distinct customer base different from other audiences. Being a B2B industry, the content had to be more detailed and technical, but the design should not be distracting.

Based on the requirements provided by Epoxy House, Megh Technologies suggested a full website with a content management system for Epoxy House. However, with the lack of an IT team, the company decided that all future content updates would be handled by Megh Technologies. The need for a content management system was ruled out, with the Megh Technologies team handling the content updates for the website.

Megh Technologies proceeded to create a custom-designed business website for Epoxy House. The design was responsive, mobile-friendly, fast-loading, and custom-designed. The use of simple technologies was all that was required, and the website was created in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript with the Bootstrap framework. The User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design and development were done in Figma before transferring the entire website to HTML5.

Overall, the website had an online product catalog, a custom-designed product page, several landing pages for lead generation strategies, specification pages for products, and a separate section for brochure downloads for various product catalogs.
