SteelFur, Its Website Evolution, and Megh Technologies

SteelFur was established in 1987. A company of such longevity inevitably undergoes significant transformation over the years. Megh Technologies created the first website for SteelFur in 2003. In 2024, 21 years later, SteelFur remains one of Megh Technologies’ oldest partners. The SteelFur website has undergone numerous changes over time. Initially, in 2003, it was a static platform displaying products in a simple format using the latest technologies of the time. This evolved into a Flash-based website and eventually a full-fledged corporate business website in 2017. Today, in 2024, Megh Technologies has redesigned the website to align with SteelFur’s business goals and to meet industry and technological standards.

Being a company with numerous accreditations, awards, and esteemed clients, SteelFur could not afford to present itself with a technologically outdated website. The director and founder, Mr. Kayasth, is a tech-savvy leader who not only inspires the company with his leadership but also oversees its overall outlook. With a keen interest in website design technologies, Mr. Kayasth has always been interested in the latest advancements and frequently inquired with Megh Technologies about possible upgrades to the website. In 2003, Mr. Kayasth requested a website revamp, as the previous one was over four years old and outdated.

Megh Technologies was tasked with recreating the website with a new design. The redesign aimed to reflect the company’s new achievements, awards, and latest clients. The website needed to be aesthetically pleasing, continue branding efforts, and focus on acquiring customers. The CTA was prominently displayed on the home page and all subpages. Social media integration with floating buttons on the sides was a key feature required by SteelFur. The social media icons included a share button, plus two buttons for WhatsApp messaging to the sales team and a call-now button.

The Process:

Megh Technologies began with the site structure, ensuring that the URLs of existing pages remained unchanged to minimize disruption and allow bookmarked pages to still be accessible. No pages were deleted; new pages were linked from the old ones. Next, a wireframe was created to align with the new website design. This wireframe and site structure were presented to the stakeholders and SteelFur for approval. The third step involved creating a detailed working prototype on Figma. The prototype was an exact copy of the website, including animations, fonts, and structure. Changes were made based on client feedback during meetings. The final stage was the sign-off, where the prototype was approved. The website was coded in HTML5, CSS3, with the Bootstrap framework. It incorporated animations, parallax images, and accordions using JavaScript from the Bootstrap framework.

Deployment & Hosting

Once the website was coded and optimized, it was placed on a temporary server for testing. The team at Megh Technologies thoroughly tested the website and sent a URL to SteelFur’s stakeholders and sales team for client testing. After resolving all issues, the website was hosted on a Megh Technologies cloud server and went live.

The Results

The redesigned website was well-received and appreciated by the directors and all stakeholders. All features were successfully implemented. The first week saw a significant increase in traffic from social media shares and platforms where SteelFur was already established. This also improved the speed of Google’s crawl, resulting in the website being indexed within a week. Rankings for several keywords improved, and the click-through rates for the listings increased slightly.
